G.        DEGREE PROGRAMMES IN ASSOCIATION WITH

            MUSCAT COLLEGE, SULTANATE OF OMAN

 

The University has an agreement with Muscat College, Sultanate of Oman whereby students completing HND studies in certain subjects may be admitted to year 3 of Bachelorís degree programmes of the University.  Under this agreement such students can gain degrees of the University by taking an approved programme of study at the College.

 

The following degree programmes are available under this arrangement:

 

Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy and Finance

Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies

Bachelor of Science in Computing Science

Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy and Finance

 

Department of Accounting and Finance

 

This is a Bachelorís degree programme delivered entirely at Muscat College.  To qualify for admission to the degree programme, students must have completed an HND programme in Accounting at Muscat College within the preceding three years, and have been recommended by the College.  Admission to the degree programme is subject to the approval of the University of Stirling Admissions Officer.

 

Programme of study

 

Students must complete the following modules:

 

ACCMA5  Information Systems

ACCMAA  Advanced Financial Accounting

FINMF3  Finance 1

ACCMA6  Auditing

ACCMMS  Applied Management Accounting*

and one of:

ACCMMA  Accounting and Management

FINMSS  Financial Analysis

 

* ACCMA5 should be taken before ACCMMS

 

The programme may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.  The University has a minimum level of passes required to enable a student to continue on a programme.  The minimum required will depend on the number of modules taken, and is detailed below:

Provided the minimum number of passes in the preceding 12 months is achieved at the end of every semester, students may continue until they have completed the programme.  Students who fail to meet the minimum requirement at any point in their studies will normally be required to withdraw on the grounds of unsatisfactory progress.

 

 

Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies

 

Department of Management and Organization

 

This is a Bachelorís degree programme delivered entirely at Muscat College.  To qualify for admission to the degree programme, students must have completed an HND programme in Business Administration or in Administration and Information Management at Muscat College within the preceding three years, and have been recommended by the College.  Admission to the degree programme is subject to the approval of the University of Stirling Admissions Officer.

Students must complete the following modules:

 

BUSM24  Managing Organizations*

HRMMR4  Introduction to Human Resource Management*

BUSMTS  Management and Information Technology

MKTMM4  Introduction to Marketing

MANMM6  Project Management and Evaluation

HRMMRT  Employee Training and Development

 

* BUSM24 and HRMMR4 must be taken in the first semester in which a student registers.

This is a Bachelorís degree programme delivered entirely at Muscat College.  To qualify for admission to the degree programme, students must have completed an HND programme in Computing (Software Development) or in Computing (Support) at Muscat College within the preceding three years, and have been recommended by the College.  Admission to the degree programme is subject to the approval of the University of Stirling Admissions Officer.

CSCMV4  Systems 1

 

and four of the following modules:

CSCMN5  Multimedia and HCI

CSCMW6  Communication and Networking*

CSCMQ5  Database Principles and Applications
